A NEW group has been launched in York to promote the benefits to young professionals of living and working in the city. Make-York is the brainchild of York Professionals, a group established eight years ago to expand awareness of the professional and financial services expertise within the York business community.
Make-York is extending that vision by promoting York’s status as a desirable city for young professionals to live and work in – and says it is determined to make a difference.
More than 30 of York’s young professionals gathered at the Treasurer’s House for a Christmas lunch with Bill Woolley, director of city strategy, and Steve Hughes, managing editor of The Press, to introduce the group and share ideas on the opportunities for young people working in the city.
The group’s chairman and Director of Dragonfly Acoustics, Chris Chittock, said: “York is brimming with talented professionals across a broad range of sectors. Make-York is designed to bring those people together to connect with other like-minded young professionals, to give them a voice and to promote and enhance all that York has to offer.
“We want young professionals from any sector to register their interest by signing up to receive emails through our website. There’s no joining fee at the moment, we just want people to get involved and help shape the group.”
